The default configuration settings in a new MSSQL database may not be adequate to ensure optimum performance during imports of large amounts of data.  To help improve date import efficiency, Ad Astra recommends the following database configuration.

After a new database is created (e.g. during installation) and before imports begin, perform the following:

1.In SQL Management Studio, connect to the database server on which you created the database.

2.Expand “Databases”, and then right-click on your database and select “Properties”.

3.Select "Files", then the Primary Autogrowth options button, and change the File Growth Megabytes value to 100MB.

4.Change the Primary Initial Size value as suggested below.

NOTE:  These are suggested starting points, but you should keep an eye on available disc space to make sure this will work in your environment.

a.For a Small school change Initial Size to 5,000MB

b.For a Medium school change the Initial Size to 10,000MB

c.For a Large school change the Initial Size to 15,000MB
